We eat about 70% of the country’s crude oil and almost all of its natural gas supplies. Gas sector and processing plants are operated by the government, especially by PDO. The company is owned by Oman Government (with 60% interest), Royal Dutch Shell (34%), Total (4%) and Petex (2%). The first economic oil exploration was done in 1962, and in 1967 the first oil farming was exported.
PDO operates in the concession area of approximately 90,000 km2 (one-third of the geographical area of Oman); it has around 130 production oil fields, 14 production gas fields, about 8,000 active wells, more than 8,500 employees have a diverse workforce , In which 64 different nations, and more than 45,000 contractors
The primary purpose of PDO Oman Oil Company is to engage efficiently, responsibly and safely in the exploration, production, development, storage and transportation of hydrocarbons in the Sultanate.
